Volunteers must be over the age of 18 to volunteer in the space (all shifts).

All volunteers are required to sign a service agreement, release and waiver of liability and confidentiality agreement upon completion of training (not including meal makers).

All volunteer must provide us with a Vulnerable Sector screening prior to commencing work (not including meal makers).  This document will be kept on file at AOTC.

The following are available Volunteer Positions you might consider:

Meal Maker
• Individual or teams of people preparing a meal (from home) and delivering the finished product to the space at a specified time.
• No interaction with guests.

Host Volunteer
• Participate in the operation of the shift that they are schedule for, under the direction of the Team and Shift Leader.
• Carry out the many tasks required for the seamless functioning of the shift/program.
• Interact with guests throughout the duration of the shift (unless it’s quiet/sleep hours).
• Shifts available include: Dinner (5:00pm-7:30pm), Evening (7:15pm-11:00pm), Overnight (10:45pm–6:00am), Breakfast (5:45am-8:30am)

Team Leader (On-Call required) – Program Manager
• Screened and interviewed position.  Job description and application here.
• Responsible for overall team leadership, team building and team effectiveness to ensure the seamless functioning of all shifts on the day that they are assigned.
• On-Call when not present at the shelter.

Shift Leader – Program Supervisor
• Screened and interviewed position.  Job description and application here.
• Responsible for seamless functioning of their respective shifts.


Volunteer Training:

All volunteers (not including meal makers) are required to complete basic training prior to commencing work.

Leadership positions require additional training.  Volunteers are welcome to attend these trainings, if not required, provided that space is available.
